BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / April 09, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 048.26, summarizing Ukraine’s notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its new law restricting epoxy derivatives in food contact materials (FCM).
Announced by the WTO in February 2026, Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 55 ‘On approval of the Requirements for Restricting the use of Certain Epoxy Derivatives in Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food’ (the Order) introduces restrictions on the use of the following substances:
Containers or storage tanks with a capacity of more than 10,000 liters, including any associated or connected pipelines, when covered by ‘heavy-duty coatings’, are not subject to the requirements of the Order.
Manufacturers, importers and distributors across the FCM and article supply chain will be impacted by the regulation, which becomes effective on May 17, 2026.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 048.26 includes further information on the requirements of the Order.
