Compton Chamber of Commerce Backs Bennie Tinson for City Council, District 2

COMPTON, CA / AGILITYPR.NEWS / April 26, 2026 / COMPTON, CA — With the Primary election less than two months away, one candidate in the race for Compton’s City Council seat in District 2 has received a significant endorsement. The Compton Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC) announced its "proud and unequivocal" endorsement of Bennie Tinson, citing his readiness to tackle the City’s most pressing economic and social hurdles.

In a statement released April 22, 2026, Dr. Lestean M. Johnson, President and CEO of the Chamber, said that this endorsement was not merely a formality; rather, it represents a strategic move to install leadership capable of navigating a "defining moment" for the district.

Bennie Tinson represents the kind of leadership District 2 needs at this critical moment—thoughtful, experienced, and prepared to deliver real results,” Dr. Johnson continued, . “His commitment to economic development, public safety, and neighborhood revitalization aligns with the priorities of our business community and residents alike.”

The PAC’s board stressed that Tinson distinguishes himself through a "proven ability" to navigate complex policy issues with accountability—a trait the business community believes is essential for day-one governance.

Tinson pointed out that the Chamber’s endorsement comes at a time when Compton continues to grapple with long-standing issues regarding the City’s infrastructure, public safety, and the need for a more robust economic corridor.

"My goal has always been to improve lives through dedication and honesty," Tinson said. "With my background in education, the union movement, and municipal governance, I am ready to serve District 2 effectively from day one."

Tinson’s platform centers on three pillars: (i) strengthening public safety to restore neighborhood confidence, (ii) revitalizing key economic zones to attract new investment, and (iii) addressing the City’s infrastructure with a sense of urgency.

The Chamber stated that these goals are not just "aspirational," but are necessary actions that require a decisive and collaborative leader.
