Content Vault Launches: A New Standard in Media File Security

UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 20, 2025 / London, UK: Content Vault, a new patent-pending application offering robust protection for digital media, launches this week. Designed to give content creators and organisations full control over who can view their files, Content Vault uses device-specific AES-256 Bit encryption to safeguard valuable media against leaks, theft, and unauthorised access.

Originally developed for the television, film, and entertainment industries, Content Vault ensures that encrypted files can only be viewed by the intended recipient on their registered device. Even if files are intercepted, copied, or shared beyond their authorised recipient, they remain inaccessible without the proper decryption key and application.

The platform was created by media professionals with deep experience in high-profile productions. Having witnessed repeated security failures in traditional file-sharing methods, the founding partners developed Content Vault to address the need for a more secure, user-specific alternative.

Recent cyberattacks — such as the MOVEit breach affecting over 80 million users, and the Rockstar Games leak exposing unreleased game footage — have highlighted the vulnerabilities in current systems. Content Vault responds to this growing threat by encrypting files to a specific device, never fully decrypting them unless permission is explicitly granted.

Whilst media remains the primary focus, the team acknowledges that Content Vault has clear potential for broader use. Sectors such as healthcare, legal, and defence — all of which rely on secure handling of visual and audio data — may adopt the platform over time as new use cases emerge.

“Content Vault was born out of real-world frustration,” said Simon Ingram, co-founder of Content Vault. “We’ve spent years working in environments where leaked content can cost millions. We built this platform so all content owners can protect their valuable intellectual property from the moment it leaves their hands. We're already in discussions with UK resellers and partners who clearly recognise the value of what we've developed.”

To use the platform, the recipient installs the Content Vault application and shares their unique Content Vault Key (.cvk) with the sender. The sender then encrypts files, currently video, audio and image files, specifically for that user and their device, using the .cvk file they were sent. The encrypted files can be transferred via any method, but can only be opened using the Content Vault app on the intended recipient’s registered device.

This prevents unauthorised access even if the files are leaked, stolen, or shared without the owner's permission. Content Vault is available now for Windows and macOS. It integrates easily into existing workflows, giving studios, production teams, and independent creators a secure way to store and share valuable media files.
