EU Guideline Issued for BPA and Other Hazardous Bisphenols in FCM
BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / January 28, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 002.26, reporting on the EU’s new guidance on the use of bisphenol A (BPA), other hazardous bisphenols and bisphenol derivatives in certain food contact materials (FCMs).
Guideline (C/2025/67621) was issued by the EU in December 2025, following Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/3190, which addressed the same substances in FCMs. It assists stakeholders in implementing the Regulation by providing harmonized classifications, clearer expectations for demonstrating compliance and practical direction for managing hazardous bisphenols in affected FCMs and articles.
