Food Contact Plastics Legislation Revised in Georgia

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / February 25, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 024.26, summarizing Georgia’s update to its resolution on plastic food contact materials and articles.

Resolution No 304/2022 approved the nation’s technical regulation on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food (the Technical Regulation (TR)). This was based on European Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011.

In 2025, two amendments to the TR were issued by Georgia, including the introduction and clarification of compliance control criteria and details of certain compliance exemptions for a limited period.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 024.26 provides further information on the amendments to the TR, including effective dates.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 024.26 for more details.
