UNITED KINGDOM / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 11, 2026 / When Becca Collishaw welcomed a baby who was just five days old to one of her classes recently, it brought home exactly why she took on Baby Sensory South Lincs in the first place.

For new parents, the first few weeks can be surprisingly isolating - let alone for those living in rural parts of Lincolnshire. There may be fewer groups nearby, friends and family might be working, and leaving the house with a newborn can feel like an achievement in itself.

Now approaching her first anniversary running Baby Sensory South Lincolnshire, Becca says creating a reason for parents to get out, meet others and spend time with their babies has become one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

Becca took over the franchise in October 2025 after seeing an advert in a local Facebook group. At the time, she had been out of work for a short period and was determined not to rush into something that was not right.

“I rang my husband and said, ‘I’ve found it! The thing I want to do next!’” she said. “I was genuinely worried I’d missed the deadline to apply, but luckily I squeezed in just in time!

“South Lincolnshire is beautiful, but it can also be quite rural and lonely, especially when you have a new baby. There are lots of things for older children and toddlers, but those very early months are different. Sometimes you just need a reason to get dressed, pack the changing bag and get out of the house.”

Becca's career had already taken her from nursery nursing and leading a baby room into primary education, where she spent 12 years as a Key Stage 1 teacher. Baby Sensory gave her the chance to combine both sides of her experience while building a working life around her own family.

The classes are designed for babies from birth to 13 months and use music, movement, textures, light and sensory experiences. Activities are backed by research into early development, with parents given ideas they can take away and use at home.

“What I love is that there is a reason behind everything we do,” Becca said. “Parents aren't expected to just sit back and watch. They get involved and learn how simple activities can support their baby's development. And, of course, we have a lot of fun along the way.”
