Mandatory CPSC Standard Final Rule Update for US Toddler Beds

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 10, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 074.26, highlighting the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) publication of a direct final rule updating the federal safety standard for toddler beds.


Published on May 14, 2026, 16 CFR part 1217 replaces the current incorporated standard for toddler beds, ASTM F1821-19 ε1, with ASTM F1821-26. The updated standard specifies the design, performance, testing and labeling requirements for toddler beds.


The CPSC has stated that the update does not alter the fundamental requirements of the standard or the compliance methods used to assess the safety of toddler beds. However, it will impact stakeholders across the supply chain, including manufacturers, importers, private-label brands, product designers, test laboratories and compliance teams responsible for toddler beds placed on the US market will be impacted.
