SGS Highlights How Exporters Can Prepare for Algeria’s Import Requirements

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / September 17, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, reports on exporting to Algeria and navigating the country’s conformity assessment requirements.

In a feature article, SGS focuses on Algeria’s regulatory framework, which includes Law No. 09-03 of 25 February 2009, relating to consumer protection and fraud prevention, and Executive Decree No. 05-467 of 10 December 2005, which establishes the conditions and procedures for conformity controls at the country’s borders. For businesses seeking to place products on the Algerian market, understanding regulatory requirements is essential to identify potential compliance issues at an early stage, prepare the necessary documentation and help reduce the risk of avoidable shipment delays.

The article highlights documentation requirements that may apply to certain transactions, including situations where independent evidence of product conformity is requested by importers, financial institutions or other parties involved in the transaction. This includes a Certificat de Contrôle de Qualité des Marchandises (CoC), issued in the exporting country, which supports the import and customs clearance process. A CoC provides independent evidence that goods have been assessed against Algerian regulatory, technical and quality requirements. SGS services supporting the import process are also detailed in the article.

Working with a trusted independent partner helps importers and exporters navigate customs processes more smoothly, supporting timely market access and regulatory compliance.

Stakeholders are encouraged to read the original article, ‘Export to Algeria with Confidence Through Pre-Export Conformity Assessment’, for more information.
