BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / August 03, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 100.26, reporting on the UK’s plans to add nine entries to the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) for authorization under UK REACH.

A six-week consultation on the inclusion of the following SVHCs and SVHC groups on the UK REACH Candidate List was launched by the UK’s Health and Safety Executive on July 9, 2026:

  • 1,1'-[ethane-1,2-diylbisoxy]bis[2,4,6-tribromobenzene] (BTBPE)
  • Bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone (BCPS)
  • 2-tert-butyl-6-(5-chloro-2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-methylphenol (Bumetrizole, UV-326)
  • Oligomerization and alkylation reaction products of 2-phenylpropene and phenol (OAPP)
  • Reaction mass of triphenylthiophosphate and tertiary butylated phenyl derivatives

  • Perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA) and its salts
  • 4,4'-[2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethylidene]diphenol (Bisphenol AF, BPAF) and its salts

The proposals would apply to these substances present on their own, or in mixtures or articles. Manufacturers, importers and suppliers of SVHCs operating in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) would be affected by the changes. Comments will be accepted on the proposals until August 20, 2026.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 100.26 also includes a useful table summarizing the uses and applications of the nine substances.
