BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 17, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 082.26, highlighting Minnesota’s amendments to Amara’s Law on products containing intentionally-added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The amendment clarifies manufacturing date requirements.
Among measures approved in 2023, an eventual ban on the use of PFAS, which are known for their toxic and bioaccumulative characteristics, is scheduled to take effect in 2032. PFAS reporting requirements apply only to products manufactured after July 1, 2023.
Stakeholders across the consumer product supply chain, including manufacturers, importers and distributors operating in the state, are expected to be impacted by the amendment.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 082.26 includes further information on the regulatory requirements under Amara’s Law and applicable timelines.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 082.26 for more details.
