BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / June 10, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 072.26, reporting on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) direct final rule for 16 CFR 1219, revising the federal safety standard for full-size baby cribs.
Changes made to the standard include the addition of new definitions, enhanced performance requirements and updated marking and labeling provisions based on ASTM F406 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs and Play Yards).
The final rule was published on May 4, 2026, and updates the incorporated standard to ASTM F1169-25, replacing the previous version referenced in the regulation and introducing revised safety provisions applicable to manufacturers, distributors, importers and retailers of these products.
Unless significant adverse comments are received by June 3, 2026, the updated mandatory safety standard will become effective on August 1, 2026.
