Update to Chinese National Standard GB/T 17685 for Down and Feather

BAAR, SWITZERLAND / AGILITYPR.NEWS / May 18, 2026 / SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 062.26, focusing on China’s revised national standard for down and feather, GB/T 17685-2026.


Announcement No. 9 of 2026 from the Standardization Administration of China included the amended national standard, which replaces the previous version, GB/T 17685-2016. The new standard will take effect on September 1, 2026, and applies to the production, inspection and sale of down and feather.


Unless otherwise specified in relevant product standards, fillings for down and feather products must be applied by reference. The updated standard does not apply to products made of mixed down and feather and/or other fibers.


Terms and definitions are provided in the update and requirements are structured into three parts: General Requirements (GB/T 17685-2016, Clause 5.1), Pre-washed down and feather (GB/T 17685-2016, Clause 5.2) and Fine washed down and feather (GB/T 17685-2016, Clause 5.3).
